ISDN is a digital circuit which transmits data digitally via an ISDN line; when connected to a PC it can then connect directly to a telephone handset. ISDN's are much faster and more efficient than regular analogue circuits which must convert the digital data to audio prior to transmission; it must then be converted back to a digital format via a modem at the other end.
Some of the benefits of using ISDNs are:
- ISDN is much faster and more efficient than analogue
- IDSN offers better voice quality
- ISDN can be used for voice or data migration
ISDN circuits are highly efficient means of communication in today's technologically advanced environment and will assist with the smooth running of conference calls as they can simultaneously provide voice, video and data transmission.
